In a month in which Xbox Game Pass received Hollow Knight Silksong, Sony will need to pull out something pretty special to satisfy PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers.
Fortunately we don't have to wait very long for Sony to show its hand, because the PS Plus Extra and Premium games are about to be officially revealed.
The next wave of PS Plus Extra and Premium games will be unveiled at 4.30pm BST on the afternoon of September 10.
2025 game of the year contender is out now and even cheaper than expected
Fans will be able to download and install the games less than a week later, specifically on September 16.
Sony typically adds around ten PS4 and PS5 games for Extra subscribers, as well as two or three retro games and the odd trial on Premium.
Without any leaks to speak of, fans have been attempting to predict the line-up ahead of schedule.
In the monthly predictions thread on Reddit, multiple fans believe Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora may make an appearance.
The open-world Ubisoft game plays a bit like Far Cry, albeit in a much more fantastical world.
Other games tipped to appear include fellow Ubisoft titles like Star Wars Outlaws and The Crew Motorfest.
The Persona series also receives multiple mentions, specifically Persona 4 Golden, Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Tactica.
That's on top of games like Nine Sols, Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil Biohazard, Resident Evil 4, Lords of the Fallen and Assassin's Creed Mirage.
First-party picks include Gran Turismo 7, Spider-Man 2, Horizon Forbidden West, LEGO Horizon Adventures and The Last of Us Part 2.
Sadly, however, it's not all good news, because multiple games will also be leaving PS Plus Extra on September 16.
This includes the likes of EA UFC 5, The Plucky Squire, Road 96, Pistol Whip, Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir, F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch, and Dragon’s Crown Pro.
