Watch Ariana Grande & Cynthia Erivo Go Toe to Toe in First ‘Wicked’ Concert Special Sneak Peek

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo have a thrillifying night in the works for Wicked fans, with the pair gearing up to star in NBC’s upcoming One Wonderful Night concert special — the first sneak peek of which dropped Monday (Nov. 3).

In the 40-second clip, lovers of the Broadway musical’s soundtrack are treated to a snippet of the two witches’ high-energy performance of “What Is This Feeling?,” a number that appears in the first of Jon M. Chu’s two Wicked films. Backlit by green and pink bulbs, Grande and Erivo go toe to toe with their impressive live vocals while recreating some of the movie’s choreography, singing, “And I will be loathing for forever/ Loathing truly deeply/ Loathing you.”

At the end, the R.E.M. Beauty founder shakes things up by delivering a sassy, “Alright, I get it!” in response to the Erivo shouting, “Boo!,” making the Tony winner laugh.

Premiering Thursday (Nov. 6) on NBC and Peacock, Wicked: One Wonderful Night will mark the first time fans get to watch Grande and Erivo perform “What Is This Feeling?” and several other Wicked classics live. Featuring glamorous costumes and dance routines, the two-hour spectacle is one of the biggest events the team has planned for the Wicked: For Good promo cycle ahead of the sequel’s theatrical premiere on Nov. 21.

In a recent interview with Evan Ross Katz, Grande explained that the idea behind the concert special was to make the promotion of the final film in the duology “more about the fans this time.”
